When it rains it pours and no one knows that better than LSU football right now.

To say the Tigers have been bit by the injury bug this season would be an understatement.

It’s more like they’ve been devoured.

LSU has dealt with an inordinate amount of injuries this season — including several season-ending injuries to key players (Eli Ricks, Kayshon Boutte, and possibly Derek Stingley Jr).

On Thursday, we learned another key Tiger is out for the year.

More bad injury news for LSU football

LSU will be without defensive end Ali Gaye for the rest of the season, according to a report from Geuax247.

Gaye, a senior from Lynwood, WA, suffered an injury in the Tigers’ loss to Kentucky. According to the report from Geaux247, the injury will require surgery.

The talented edge rusher had compiled 19 tackles and 2.5 sacks this season.

With Gaye out, it will mean more of a pass-rushing role for true freshman defensive lineman Maason Smith.

The Tigers caught lightning in a bottle in 2019. Everything that could go right, went right.

This season has been the complete opposite. The coaching staff doesn’t have the right chemistry, injuries have been ridiculous and head coach Ed Orgeron is fighting for his job.

This is shaping up to be LSU’s first losing season since 1999.

While the injuries have been a big reason for the lack of success, the bigger reason is the failure of Orgeron as the program’s head coach.

Next. Coach O acting like he's about to get fired. dark

At this point, it would be a complete shock if Orgeron somehow kept his job. The only way forward for the program right now is to move on from Coach O.
