LSU football‘s 2021 season has pretty much been a disaster.

After the Tigers’ strong finish to the 2020 season, the expectation was that LSU would return to being a dominant team in 2021.

However, that hasn’t been the case.

LSU started the season with a whimper, losing to UCLA on the road.

Losses to Auburn and Kentucky have followed, bringing the Tigers’ record this season to 3-3.

Not exactly what most folks were expecting from LSU this season.

The non-impact on LSU football recruiting this season

Typically when a season goes south for a team — especially when a coaching change is inevitable — recruiting suffers. It’s not unusual to see a bunch of decommitments.

Oddly enough, LSU hasn’t lost a single commit since July.

They also haven’t added a single commit since July.

Essentially, LSU recruiting has been stuck in neutral since the summer.

This just strikes me as really strange. There’s usually at least some movement when it comes to recruiting during the season.

It’s a good thing, though, that LSU hasn’t lost any recruits.

The Tigers currently have 15 players committed to their 2022 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 9 in the country and No. 3 in the SEC.

If LSU can keep this class in the top 10, it will give the next head coach (there’s almost no way Ed Orgeron is back next season) a solid foundation to build on.

The Tigers have plenty of talent. And the program basically recruits itself — that’s why LSU is one of the top jobs in the nation.

dark. Next. Ed Orgeron comment should get him fired

Whoever replaces Coach O should have the Tigers competing for a national championship by at least the second year on the job.
