Billy Napier — Louisiana head coach
I’m not sure where Billy Napier will be on Woodward’s shortlist.
Napier has had great success at Louisiana. And he’s worked under Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney. But he’s never led a program at the Power-5 level. It doesn’t seem like Woodward wants to hire a first-time Power-5 head coach. That’s understandable because it’s a huge gamble.
I think Napier is the floor for this coaching search. The only way he gets hired is if Woodward swings and misses at every other big target.
Napier could be a great SEC coach. Or he could be a flop like Scott Frost was at Nebraska.
