LSU Football: Ed Orgeron gives odd answer to question about sophomore WR
By Zach Ragan
LSU football head Ed Orgeron gave a strange answer on Tuesday when he was asked about sophomore wide receiver Koy Moore entering the transfer portal.
“I have not talked to Koy and if he has entered the transfer portal, I don’t know anything about it,” said Orgeron during his Tuesday press conference (via 247Sports).
Geaux247 reported on Monday that Moore “will enter the transfer portal”.
Moore, a former four-star recruit from Metairie, LA, has five receptions for 71 yards in 2021.
As a true freshman last season, Moore compiled 22 receptions for 177 yards.
Strange response from Ed Orgeron leaves more questions than answers about Koy Moore
Moore is either with the program or he’s not. And Orgeron, as the head coach, should know the status of Moore.
Now, I could understand if Orgeron didn’t want to address it during the press conference. That’s certainly understandable. A lot is going on at LSU right now with the recent news that Orgeron won’t be back as the program’s head coach in 2022.
So who knows what will actually happen with Moore. Maybe it was an emotional decision and he’ll be back. Or maybe he’s totally done with the program.
Either way, Orgeron’s answer just left us with more questions than anything else. It’s hard to believe he has no idea what’s going on with one of his players and the media does.
Moore is a good player. He’s been used sparingly so far at LSU, but he has the talent to make an impact for the Tigers. He’s just buried on the depth chart behind a deep group of talented wide receivers.
I’m sure we’ll get more clarity on his status in the coming days/weeks. But for now, we’re left to wonder what the deal is thanks to Orgeron’s bizarre claim that he hasn’t talked to Moore.
