Joe Burrow did something no quarterback has ever done before
By Zach Ragan
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow reminded everyone on Sunday afternoon why he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The former LSU football star carved up the Baltimore Ravens defense while leading the Bengals to a 41-17 win.
Cincinnati is now 5-2 and tied for first in the AFC North (with the Ravens).
Not only did Burrow lead the Bengals to a massive road win, he also did something that no quarterback has ever done before.
Joe Burrow’s incredible accomplishment in Baltimore
Burrow passed for 416 yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ win over the Ravens on Sunday.
According to CBS Sports, it’s the first time that a quarterback has ever thrown three touchdowns and more than 400 yards against the Ravens in Baltimore.
This is incredible considering some of the great quarterbacks that have come through the AFC since 1996 (when the Ravens moved from Cleveland and began play as an expansion franchise).
Guys like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Philip Rivers have all played multiple games in Baltimore and never accomplished what Burrow did on Sunday.
Of course, Burrow couldn’t have done it without his former LSU teammate, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Chase, who was selected by the Bengals with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, caught eight passes for 201 yards and a touchdown against Baltimore.
It’s almost like Burrow and Chase never left Baton Rouge. This is exactly what they did for LSU in 2019.
Burrow is elite. Chase is elite. And the Bengals are….good?
Cincinnati invested in Burrow because they believed he could turn the franchise into an annual contender.
And they invested in Chase because they believed he and Burrow could recreate their magic from LSU.
So far, it appears their investment is going to pay off.
