LSU football redshirt senior quarterback Myles Brennan is planning to enter the transfer portal, according to The Athletic’s Brody Miller.

This move certainly doesn’t come as a surprise, considering LSU’s current quarterback situation.

Brennan has the potential to be a star in the SEC.

But unfortunately, he’s had some tough luck during his time with the Tigers.

Myles Brennan could have a future in the NFL

The talented signal-caller was behind Joe Burrow on the depth chart for a couple of seasons before finally getting his shot to start for LSU last season.

Brennan started the first three games of the 2020 season for the Tigers and played extremely well before an abdomen injury sidelined him for the final seven games of the season.

TJ Finley (who has since transferred to Auburn) and Max Johnson carried the load in Brennan’s absence.

Brennan was expected to compete with Johnson for the starting job this fall. But a broken arm just before the start of fall camp forced Brennan to the bench. He has still yet to return from the injury.

LSU has Johnson and true freshman Garrett Nussmeier currently holding down the quarterback position. And five-star LSU quarterback commit Walker Howard will be in Baton Rouge next season.

Brennan likely wants to go to a program where he has an easier path to starting, so he can improve his NFL draft stock.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Brennan is an NFL-caliber quarterback — he just needs a chance to prove it.

Hopefully, he can stay healthy get that chance.
