Mack Brown — North Carolina (1988-1997)

Mack Brown is one of only five active FBS head coaches with a national championship to his credit.

Brown led Texas to a national championship in 2005.

Before Brown landed in Austin, he was the head coach at North Carolina for 10 seasons.

He better be glad he was there in the 1980s because Brown probably would’ve been fired after his first two years at UNC.

Brown went 1-10 in year one and year two. That’s good enough to get a Power-5 coach fired in 2021. There would be no year three for Brown if that happened in today’s game.
