LSU Football: Ed Orgeron throws some beautiful shade at Alabama
By Zach Ragan
LSU football didn’t leave Tuscaloosa this past weekend with a win, but the Tigers gave Alabama a scare.
The Crimson Tide were a heavy favorite last weekend against LSU. So it was quite a surprise when the Tigers took the game all the way down to the final minutes.
Alabama managed to grind out a 20-14 win, handing LSU its second straight loss.
After the game, Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron made it clear that he felt like LSU was the better team.
On Wednesday, Orgeron doubled down on his comments about Alabama.

Coach O won’t be back as the Tigers’ head coach in 2022, which means every game during the final month of the season is especially important to the national championship-winning coach.
Orgeron seems to be having a tough time with the loss to Alabama — mostly because he knows LSU let one get away.
Coach O doesn’t view Alabama as a team that’s as good as they have been in the past. And he made that clear during his appearance on the SEC coaches’ weekly teleconference on Wednesday.
Here are Orgeron’s comments (via 247Sports):
"“I don’t know if they were expecting us to be that good. … I don’t know if they played to their peak performance or not, but I felt we matched up pretty good. … I can’t judge how good they are. They aren’t as good as they were in the past. They might be the best team in the country, I don’t know. But they weren’t that night.”"
Ultimately, nothing matters but the final score.
But I had to admit — I’m going to miss Orgeron’s candid approach to press conferences when he’s gone next season.
Orgeron has never been one to dish out “coach speak”. He’s always been straightforward — almost to a fault — but it’s refreshing when most of the week we hear SEC head coaches spew a bunch of nonsense and waste everyone’s time.
