New LSU Football head coach Brian Kelly has a resumé that speaks for itself.

The former Notre Dame head coach returned the Fighting Irish to relevancy during his decade in South Bend.

Kelly took Notre Dame to the College Football Playoff twice — an impressive feat considering the recruiting challenges that face the Irish.

The only reason that Kelly left Notre Dame is likely because he wanted a new challenge. He wanted to go to a place where there was no ceiling.

With that kind of mindset, it’s no surprise that Kelly has hit the ground running in Baton Rouge.

The most impressive thing about LSU football head coach Brian Kelly so far

During Kelly’s first couple of days as LSU’s head coach, there wasn’t a ton of communication with recruits. That was by design.

Kelly has a plan. And he’s very meticulous about that plan. As soon as he took the job at LSU, Kelly immediately got to work building his staff, implementing his vision for the program, and mapping out a strategy for success.

Once he got a few things squared away, he hit the recruiting trail to touch base with prospects.

The one recurring theme that we’ve heard in interviews from various high school coaches that have interacted with Kelly over the last week is the detailed vision the new Tigers head coach has for LSU football.

Lake Charles College Prep Athletic Director Freddie Harrison detailed to 247Sports this week how he was impressed by Kelly.

From 247Sports:

"“Just his demeanor, eye contact, his straight-forwardness,” explained Harrison. “He understands these kids have been in limbo for a while, and he was just a straight shooter. He let TreVonte’ know he hit the ground running when he got the job, and he had things he had to address before he hit the ground with recruiting.“Then the first time he had a chance to get out, he was able to get out and see people. He talked about what he needed to do on day 1 of the job, week 1, and month 1. He’s very meticulous and detailed in his approach and with transitioning LSU. You could see early on that he has a plan, and he did a good job of relaying that.”"

It’s not fair to compare former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and Kelly. They’re two different coaches who have different approaches but have both found success in major college football.

But it’s impossible not to notice just how organized Kelly is compared to Coach O.

dark. Next. One reason why Joe Brady may not return to LSU

LSU fans should feel comfortable knowing that Kelly always has a plan. He’s never winging it. And that’s one of the main reasons why I think he’s going to be incredibly successful in Baton Rouge.
