It feels like the Brian Kelly era for LSU football is officially underway after what we saw on Wednesday.

2022 four-star defensive lineman Quency Wiggins, the No. 3 rated player in Louisiana, signed with the Tigers during the first day of the early signing period.

But not before giving LSU fans — and maybe the coaching staff — a bit of a scare.

Wiggins looked like he was going to put an Alabama hat on during his signing ceremony on Wednesday before tossing it aside and putting on an LSU hat.

Check it out.

LSU Football is going to be a force under Brian Kelly

The audible gasp from the crowd when everyone thought Wiggins was going to put on an Alabama hat before he pulled out the LSU hat is tremendous. The crowd immediately erupted in cheers when they saw the LSU hat.

I love the fact that Wiggins threw some shade at Alabama. This moment quickly went viral, which is fantastic for LSU recruiting under Brian Kelly. The more positive attention for the program the better.

It shows that LSU is still one of the big dogs in college football. The program isn’t “down” by any means. Sure, the last two years weren’t what fans expected. The program underachieved.

But LSU is still LSU — it’s one of the premier programs in college football.

And there’s a lot of talent on the roster.

Kelly, one of the most well-respected coaches in the nation, is going to have more talent at his disposal than he’s ever had in his career.

Next. LSU's DC search has an easy answer. dark

This is just the beginning of a great era for LSU football. Wiggins’ hat toss on Wednesday was a sign to the rest of the country to not write off the Tigers.

Otherwise, they’ll regret it.
