LSU Football get no respect from national publication; why fans shouldn’t be mad
By Zach Ragan
LSU football didn’t get any respect in 247Sports’ early 2022 top 25 rankings.
247Sports revealed their very early top 25 this week — after Georgia’s win against Alabama in the College Football Playoff championship game — and the Tigers weren’t included in the top 25.
In fact, LSU didn’t even receive a vote in the early top 25.
(247Sports’ top 25 was voted on using a point system — 25 points for first, 24 points for second, and so on.)
LSU Football fans shouldn’t be mad about getting no respect from 247Sports
Nearly everyone wants their favorite team to be ranked — it’s human nature.
And I think the Tigers probably should be ranked, considering the amount of talent they have and the elite head coach in Brian Kelly that was brought in to lead the program.
But it’s not a bad thing that LSU isn’t being viewed as a top 25 team by 247Sports.
In fact, I think it’s a great thing.
The Tigers are going to make a lot of national writers/analysts look really silly in 2022.
I think the national folks are forgetting that this is a team that has a lot of quality talent. Elite talent.
When you combine that talent with one of the best head coaches in college football, you have a team that should be ready to instantly make some noise in 2022.
Now, I don’t think the Tigers are about to compete for the national championship in 2022.
But this isn’t a total rebuild, either.
Kelly will have to find his footing in Baton Rouge. It’ll take him at least a full season to settle in and have LSU ready to compete with Alabama for the SEC West title.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Tigers finish in the top 15 next season.
They should certainly finish in the top 25.
So go ahead, let the Tigers be doubted. It’ll make it even sweeter when they prove everyone wrong.
