There’s a game on the 2022 NFL schedule that’s going to be absolutely huge for LSU football fans.

The Cincinnati Bengals will travel to Louisiana next season to take on the New Orleans Saints (the date is still to be announced).

That means former Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow will be returning to The Boot to play for the first time since leading LSU to a win in the College Football Playoff championship game against the Clemson Tigers in early 2020.

There’s obviously a lot of natural crossover between the LSU fan base and the Saints fan base. When you mix in that fandom with the return of Burrow, it makes this a must-see game for Tigers fans.

Joe Burrow has the Cincinnati Bengals heading in the right direction

A couple of years ago, most folks would’ve assumed that New Orleans would’ve been the favorite to win a home game against the Bengals.

But that’s not the case anymore. And it’s all because of Burrow.

The former LSU quarterback has completely turned Cincinnati around.

Two years ago, the Bengals were 2-14 and directionless.

Then they drafted Burrow.

The 2020 season was up-and-down for Burrow and the Bengals. They finished 4-11-1 as Burrow got adjusted to life in the NFL (he also suffered a torn ACL that kept him out for the final month of the season).

In 2021, however, the Bengals have turned into one of the scariest teams in the AFC — especially over the last few weeks.

Cincinnati won their final three games of the season that Burrow started (he didn’t start the final game of the season, a loss against the Cleveland Browns, so he could rest his knee for the playoffs). Those games were against the Baltimore Ravens (a team that Burrow currently owns), the Denver Broncos, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Not a bad way to end the season.

I don’t know who LSU fans will be cheering for next season when Burrow visits New Orleans. All I know for sure is that it’s a game that Tigers fans will absolutely want to attend.
