LSU Football received some great news on Tuesday.
The Tigers learned that junior wide receiver Jaray Jenkins will return to LSU for his senior season.
Jenkins caught 34 passes for 502 yards and six touchdowns in 2021.
The Louisiana native was considering leaving LSU early to enter the 2022 NFL Draft.
Jaray Jenkins could have a big senior season for LSU Football
Jenkins, 6-foot-1/175 lbs, is a former three-star recruit who signed with the Tigers during the 2018 recruiting cycle. He was rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 73 wide receiver in the country and the No. 16 player in Louisiana.
Kansas, LSU, and Mississippi State were the only Power-5 programs to offer Jenkins out of high school.
With Jenkins returning, the Tigers are actually going to have some really nice depth at wide receiver in 2021.
LSU’s top five wide receivers from last season are returning.
Kayshon Boutte (the Tigers’ leading wide receiver last year) should be the star of the show for LSU. Jenkins, along with Brian Thomas Jr, Malik Nabers, and Jack Bech will be the other top options in the passing game. The Tigers also have talented redshirt freshman Chris Hilton returning.
Additionally, LSU added Louisiana-Lafayette wide receiver transfer Kyren Lacy via the portal.
The Tigers are expected to have an open quarterback battle between Myles Brennan, Garrett Nussmeier, and incoming true freshman Walker Howard.
For now, it feels like Brennan is going to be the guy for LSU in 2022 — I think Brian Kelly wants a veteran to run his offense.
But regardless of who wins the job, they’re going to have some elite wide receiver talent to work with.
