LSU football made a big addition — both literally and figuratively — on Tuesday.

The Tigers secured a commitment from transfer offensive lineman Tre’mond Shorts.

Shorts is a former East Tennessee State offensive lineman who entered the transfer portal in mid-December.

This is the second offensive lineman that LSU has added via the transfer portal this offseason. They also added FIU transfer Miles Frazier.

Tre’mond Shorts is a nice addition for LSU Football

Shorts, 6-foot-4/326 lbs from Hampton, GA, wasn’t rated by the major recruiting services coming out of high school.

But he played well enough at East Tennessee State to catch the eye of some SEC programs.

Shorts has one year of eligibility remaining — his COVID-19 super senior season. He will immediately give LSU much-needed interior offensive line depth.

According to Shorts, he can play anywhere on the offensive line.

“I can play center, guard, or tackle. It doesn’t really matter to me,” said Shorts to 247Sports recently. “I just like playing and I am willing to play wherever the team needs me to play.”

Brian Kelly has made some nice additions to LSU’s roster via the transfer portal.

It’s clear that Kelly quickly went to work once arriving in Baton Rouge. He pinpointed areas on the roster where the Tigers needed help and he’s made some key additions in those areas.

LSU still has some room for more additions — whether that’s via the transfer portal or high school recruits (during the traditional signing day period in February).

Kelly should have the Tigers ready to compete in the SEC West in year one. He’s absolutely not playing around this offseason.
