LSU Football has interest in a 2023 QB not named Arch Manning

Several LSU Football assistants recently traveled to Isidore Newman in New Orleans to check out 2023 five-star quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning is one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation, thanks to his impressive football pedigree and elite skills.

Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss (the alma mater of almost everyone in the Manning family, except Peyton who went to Tennessee….and no the Vols aren’t a factor for Arch) are all seriously in the mix for Arch.

That means LSU may not land the elite quarterback recruit.

But that’s why Manning isn’t the only 2023 quarterback recruit the Tigers are pursuing.

There’s another 2023 QB that SU football likes

According to 247Sports, LSU is high on 2023 four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina.

Vizzina, 6-foot-3/200 lbs from Birmingham, AL, is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 8 quarterback in the country and the No. 8 player in the state of Alabama.

“I’m told this is a guy Sloan and the LSU side really like right now,” wrote 247Sports’ Shea Dixon.

Vizzina, who was just recently offered by the Tigers, also has offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Kentucky, and Notre Dame, among others.

Here’s what 247Sports says in their scouting report about Vizzina:

"Possesses adequate size and frame for the position, verified at 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds plus. Has the frame to add additional weight to his body at the next level. Displays good athleticism in the pocket and above average mobility as a runner.Appears to have a loose compact throwing motion. Shows the ability to get the ball out from a variety of angles. Exhibits good foot quickness and the ability to reset his feet in the pocket. Has the tendency to play rushed at times in the pocket but flashes good play tempo and ability to extend plays with his feet."

Dixon noted that Vizzina recently took a visit to Tennessee, but the Tigers should be becoming more involved in his recruitment moving forward.

We’ll see how this plays out in the coming months. There are a lot of 2023 quarterback domino chips that probably need to fall before Vizzina makes his decision.

It’s going to be really interesting to see if programs wait until highly-coveted Arch Manning commits before taking commitments from other top quarterbacks.
