LSU football head coach Brian Kelly is heading to New Orleans on Wednesday to visit 2023 five-star quarterback Arch Manning, according to a report from 247Sports.

Manning, 6-foot-4/215 lbs, is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.

Suffice it to say, he’s the most highly-coveted recruit in the 2023 class.

Kelly’s visit to Isidore Newman to see Manning comes on the heels of several other high-profile coach visits.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban was at Manning’s basketball game last Friday night. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart visited Manning before Saban. And Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was in New Orleans on Tuesday to see Manning.

Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss, along with LSU — the hometown school for Manning — appear to be the top four candidates to land the extremely talented quarterback.

Brian Kelly bringing Arch Manning to LSU football would be huge

Bringing Manning to LSU would be big for so many reasons.

First off, it would be a massive win over Alabama and Georgia — the last two programs to win national championships.

Secondly, it would likely lead to another natty for LSU.

Having a transcendent quarterback is one of the biggest ingredients to a championship team (just ask Ed Orgeron how much having Joe Burrow helped in 2019). Manning has the talent/pedigree to be one of the best college quarterbacks of all time. There’s a reason every major program is going all out to land him.

So where does LSU stand?

It’s hard to know for sure. But it appears that there’s a favorable view of Kelly in New Orleans.

Isidore Newman football coach Nelson Stewart is excited to finally meet Kelly. And he said he’s already heard great things about Kelly and his culture.

“I keep hearing good things about BK and the culture,” said Stewart to 247Sports. “I’m excited to meet him.”

Next. Great Joe Burrow story from Ohio State days. dark

The recruiting battle for Manning is just now starting to heat up. It’s going to be a wild recruitment, so LSU fans should probably just buckle up and enjoy the ride. It’s far too early to make a prediction on where Manning will land.
