LSU Football: Another reason for fans to love Brian Kelly
By Zach Ragan
New LSU football head coach Brian Kelly did something this week that most folks probably didn’t think much about.
It was something so simple. Something practically unnoticeable. But I thought it gave fans another great reason to love Kelly as a head coach.
Earlier this week, the Tigers landed Oklahoma State transfer cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse, Shreveport, LA.
Kelly celebrated landing Bernard-Converse by sending a tweet that praised the former three-star recruit.
“A steady, established veteran with a nose for the ball and exceptional cover skills, @TheJBnard
always delivers,” tweeted Kelly.
A small gesture by LSU football head coach Brian Kelly means a lot
The tweet by Kelly is probably glossed over by most, but I guarantee you it wasn’t glossed over by Bernard-Converse.
We don’t see college football head coaches single out players on social media very often.
Kelly is publicly praising a new player on Twitter — that’s something that other recruits/transfers see. It shows that Kelly truly appreciates the players on his roster. That he recognizes, individually, what makes the players at LSU so great.
I have no doubt that other recruits/transfers saw Kelly’s tweet and they appreciated it. And maybe it made them want to be part of what Kelly is building in Baton Rouge.
Maybe you’re rolling your eyes right now and thinking this wasn’t a big deal. Or maybe you just think I’m making much ado about nothing.
That’s fine.
But just think about this: If I see that tweet and walk away thinking that Kelly truly cares about his players, don’t you think at least a few other people feel the same way?
