One of LSU football‘s top 2022 recruiting targets will announce his college decision and sign his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

Five-star linebacker Harold Perkins, fresh off an official visit to LSU, will announce his decision on Wednesday at 1:15 PM CT/2:15 PM ET.

The announcement will be streamed on CBS Sports HQ.

Perkins, 6-foot-3/210 lbs from Cypress, TX (Cypress), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 linebacker in the country and the No. 8 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

The talented linebacker committed to Texas A&M on January 2, but he decommitted on January 24, opening the door for the Tigers to win this recruiting battle.

Getting the last visit before National Signing Day is big for LSU football

Perkins took his extended family with him for his official visit to LSU this past weekend, which reportedly went very well.

247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reported that Perkins’ dad felt the trip was “awesome” and that he was very impressed with Brian Kelly and the Tigers’ staff.

One speedbump that LSU has been dealing with in recruiting has been the absence of a defensive coordinator on these visits.

Matt House is set to lead the Tigers’ defense in 2022, but he’s been working as the Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coach through the end of their season (which ended on Sunday, thanks to former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow).

House, however, is still recruiting for the Tigers. Even though he had an AFC Championship game to prepare for, House still managed to zoom with Perkins this weekend.

“Matt House (Zoomed in) pointed things out nobody no linebackers coach or defensive coordinator mentioned throughout the whole process,” said Perkins’ uncle, Alvin Walton (via 247Sports).

Joe Burrow makes insane claim....and we believe him. dark. Next

It certainly sounds like LSU is in a good spot in this recruiting battle. We’ll see on Wednesday if they did enough to sign the elite five-star recruit.
