LSU Football: Brian Kelly criticism over losing recruit in dance video is absurd
By Zach Ragan
LSU football head coach Brian Kelly has been the subject of a lot of national headlines this week.
And it doesn’t make sense.
Kelly has received a lot of criticism for “dancing” with three-star tight end Danny Lewis in a video that went viral last week.
The criticism ramped up this week when Lewis, a New Iberia, LA native, signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
People everywhere when nuts, lambasting Kelly for dancing with a recruit then not even signing that recruit.
You know it’s bad when the New York Post is writing articles about it.
The criticism for LSU football head coach Brian Kelly doesn’t make sense
When I see the video of Kelly dancing with Lewis — or any other recruit — I just see a coach having fun.
Kelly is embracing recruit at LSU. And guess what? You can’t land every recruit.
The folks that are criticizing Kelly seem to be forgetting one important thing.
The first recruit at LSU that Kelly was in a video dancing with was five-star quarterback Walker Howard.
Remember that back in December?
Yes, the dancing is terrible — Kelly isn’t going to be on Dancing With the Stars anytime soon.
But that doesn’t matter.
What matters is that Howard — the No. 5 quarterback in the nation — signed with LSU after that video.
So clearly Kelly is doing something right.
Kelly is doing what all college coaches should be doing — embracing recruit. Criticizing him for that seems extremely short-sighted.
