New LSU football head coach Brian Kelly has done a great job this offseason of bolstering the Tigers’ roster via the NCAA transfer portal.

LSU has added 13 transfers so far, most recently adding South Carolina linebacker Kolbe Fields.

The Tigers reportedly have four scholarships left to use during this cycle.

Kelly will likely save several of those scholarships for after spring practice when another wave of players is expected to hit the transfer portal.

There is one player, however, that I think the Tigers could look to add very soon.

The next player that LSU football could land in the NCAA transfer portal

Notre Dame tight end George Takacs hit the NCAA transfer portal this week.

Takacs is a former four-star recruit from Naples, FL who was rated as the No. 14 tight end in the 2018 recruiting class.

The Florida native didn’t have a ton of success during his first three years at Notre Dame, catching only eight passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

But the potential is still there.

LSU needs to add some depth to their tight end room. And Kelly coached Takacs at Notre Dame, so this would seem like a natural fit.

Tigers special teams coordinator Brian Polian was also at Notre Dame with Takacs.

This is a move that makes sense for all parties. A fresh start for Takacs. Depth for the TIgers. Familiarity all around.

dark. Next. New leader in the race for Arch Manning?

I know LSU is going to be picky with their remaining scholarships. But considering their massive need at the tight end position, I think taking Takacs is a no-brainer for Kelly and the Tigers.
