LSU Football: Elite tight end set to visit Tigers in March
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is set to receive a visit from an elite 2023 recruit in early March.
Four-star tight end Mac Markway will visit the Tigers on March 11.
Markway, 6-foot-4/250 lbs from Saint Louis, MO (DeSmet), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 5 tight end in the country and the No. 3 player in Missouri.
He’s also ranked as the No. 95 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
LSU Football will have stiff competition for Mac Markway
If the Tigers are going to land LSU, they’ll have to beat out some of the top programs in the country.
After his visit to Baton Rouge, Markway will be taking visits to Ohio Stae, Miami, and Iowa (via 247Sports).
The talented tight end actually has some connections to LSU.
Well, kinda.
Markway has family in Lousiana.
“The main thing for them I have family down there and their tradition of winning and getting tight ends to the NFL as well,” said Markway to 247Sports recently.
Markway also has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Texas, and USC, among many others.
247Sports midland region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks compares Markway to former LSU tight end Foster Moreau, a fourth-round draft pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Brooks says Markway is “physical at the point of attack and thrives in the run game as a blocker”. He also notes that Markway is a basketball player, which is a trait common in great tight ends.
LSU currently has only one commit to its 2023 recruiting class, four-star wide receiver Omarion Miller from Louisiana.
