LSU vs Georgia
We’ve got a battle of two struggling teams tonight. The Tigers are just 1-6 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games as they’ve gone cold after a torrid start while the Bulldogs are 1-13 outright in their last 14.
LSU does still have the 3rd-best adjusted defensive efficiency in the country, however, while forcing turnovers on 25% of their opponent’s possessions. They should dominate a Georgia offense that ranks 288th in offensive turnover percentage.
That being said, the Bulldogs have shown some fight recently. With a 4-2 ATS record in their last six, they’ve stayed competitive but haven’t been able to get over the hump for a win. I don’t have the gall to pick them to win this one, but I think they can keep it close against an LSU team that has struggled to put opponents away.
But it’s still Georgia, so I’m not making a spread bet here. Instead, I’ll look to the total for value. The under is 13-1 in LSU games that close with a total of 140 or higher. Georgia should struggle to score and the Tigers turn the ball over on 21% of their possessions, so we should have a lot of empty possessions for both teams.
I’m taking the under 145.5 (-110) and expect the under to move to 11-5 in LSU’s home games.
