LSU vs South Carolina Prediction
Despite winning three in a row, the Tigers have come back to earth after a torrid start to the season that had them looking like one of the best teams in the country. They’re just 2-6 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight as their defense has regressed and their offense hasn’t been able to pick up the slack.
They’re still an absolute force defensively, though, ranking second nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency behind the third-highest defensive turnover rate. The Tigers defend well both inside and out and give their offense second-chance opportunities by generating a lot of offensive rebounds.
LSU takes on a South Carolina squad that has come on strong of late, going 6-2 ATS in their past eight contests. The Gamecocks are 9-4 at home while the Tigers are 2-5 on the road. South Carolina has a strong defense as well, forcing a lot of turnovers and relying on offensive rebounds to generate points.
Honestly, these teams aren’t that dissimilar, they’re just going in opposite directions. It’s difficult to trust the Tigers on the road and I think the Gamecocks can win this one outright as they try to bolster their NCAA Tournament resume.
