Where LSU Football is predicted to finish in SEC West
By Zach Ragan
LSU football enters the 2022 season with a fresh start.
There is no more trying to live up to the incredible 2019 season that saw Ed Orgeron’s squad go 15-0 and win a national championship.
Nope.
It’s a new era under new Tigers head coach Brian Kelly, who will look to cement his status as one of the best coaches in college football by quickly bringing another title to Baton Rouge.
While that’s ultimately the expectation for LSU under Kelly, it’s not the expectation in year one.
In Kelly’s first year, the expectation will be for the Tigers to get back to 9 or 10 wins and show some progress. The talent is there for LSU to be a 10-win team. Kelly just has to build the culture.
Where is LSU football predicted to finish in the SEC West in 2022?
247Sports recently predicted the order of finish for the SEC East and West in 2022.
And they don’t see the Tigers finishing near the top of the SEC West.
247Sports is predicting that LSU will finish tied for fourth with Ole Miss in the SEC West with an 8-4 record, behind Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Alabama.
I’m not sure I totally agree with that.
I could see LSU finishing 8-4 — that seems about right after the last two years and the attrition the program has dealt with.
But Ole Miss AND LSU finishing below Arkansas?
Yeah, I’m not so sure about that.
LSU is still more talented than the Razorbacks. And I think Kelly is the better coach. Plus Ole Miss is coming off a 10-win season and they just landed USC transfer quarterback Jaxon Dart.
Sam Pittman has done a great job at Arkansas, but it’s hard for me to see the Razorbacks finishing above LSU and Ole Miss in the SEC West in 2022.
