The 13th ranked LSU baseball squad went into the bottom of the 8th Sunday tied 6-6 with Texas A&M after dropping the first two games of the series.

With two outs, the Tigers got the bats going and loaded the bases as the tension mounted in Box Stadium like humidity before the onset of driving rain. Finally, the thunder came as centerfielder Dylan Crews clocked a base hit to drive home the winning RBI, putting LSU up 7-6.

It was LSU’s first lead of the ball game, but it was enough to slam the brakes on a two-game skid and avoid being swept at home by the Aggies.

A&M jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning then went up 3-0 in the top of the fouth before LSU finally got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Aggies came roaring back in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-2, but LSU would not go away.

The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and then two more in the bottom of the sixth to knot the score at 6-6.

This was an important win for LSU baseball (and welcome news after a rough weekend) as the team improved to 15-5 on the season and 1-2 in the SEC.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday at 6:30 PM CDT as they play host to Louisiana Tech. LSU will resume SEC play on Friday, March 25, with the first of a three-game series at #9 Florida.
