With the exception of a tight win for the Tigers in a fantastic game between LSU and Jackson State yesterday in the First Round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, it has been a rough weekend for LSU fans.

Women’s Basketball

Check out the March Madness highlights of Kim Mulkey’s team on YouTube as they rallied in the 4th quarter to finally put away a feisty JSU, 83-77, in Baton Rouge yesterday.

LSU Sports Net has the story of the game, which “featured multiple twists and turns.”

Zach Junda over at And the Valley Shook offers more on the close call against JSU.

The women will face Ohio State in the Round of 32 tomorrow at 7:00 PM CDT on ESPN2.

Trisha Esto at The Daily Advertiser has all the details on how to watch or listen to the game.

Men’s Basketball

While the women managed to find a way in a tight game, the Tareaux Cards let us down as the men came up just short against Iowa State, 59-54, as Iowa State’s three-point shooting proved to be the dagger.

Zach Junda has the story at And the Valley Shook.

Matthias Schwartzkopf offers the Iowa State perspective of the game at Wide Right & Natty Lite.

Now, all focus in men’s basketball shifts to finding Will Wade’s replacement.

Baseball

The 13th ranked LSU Tigers baseball team opened SEC play this weekend with a three-game home series against Texas A&M that wraps up at 2:00 PM CDT.

So far, the series has been something of a nightmare for LSU, as Kyle Richardson of The USA Today’s LSU Wire reports.

Game one and two highlights are on YouTube.

Friday night’s game ended 6-4 in favor of the Aggies. Junda has a nice story up on the game.

Game two ended 11-7 in a favor of the Aggies again, and again Junda gives us a nice recap.

Today’s game will stream on SECN and can be found on the radio at WTGE-FM, 98.1 (Baton Rouge); WWL-AM, 870 (New Orleans); KLWB-FM, 103.7 (Lafayette).
