LSU baseball slipped from #13 to #21 in the latest D1 Baseball Top 25 after losing its home series with Texas A&M, 2 games to 1.

After a couple of rough games, LSU managed to get back on track on Sunday by defeating the Aggies, 7-6.

It was too little, too late, however, as voters sent LSU tumbling down eight spots. The fall down the rankings is the biggest drop this week for any team with the exception of Stanford, which fell completely out of the rankings after starting last week ranked 12th.

Ole Miss did not receive such harsh treatment despite going 2-2 last week, as the Rebels maintained their grip on #1.

Other SEC teams ranked are #3 Arkansas, #4 Vanderbilt, #5 Tennessee, #8 Florida, and #17 Georgia. Future SEC member, Texas, is ranked #2.

The SEC currently has seven teams ranked in the Top 25; the ACC has eight (counting Notre Dame); the Big 12 has four, and the Pac-12 has two.

Mississippi State, which was ranked #23 last week, fell from the rankings despite hammering UGA, 20-3, in Athens yesterday.

The Tigers play host to Louisiana Tech Tuesday at 6:30 PM CDT.

LA Tech is 14-6 on the season and has won eight of its last ten.

The Bulldogs defeated LSU, 11-6, earlier this season in Ruston, LA, so this will be a big game for the Tigers as they have the chance to avenge an earlier loss.

LSU Baseball Resumes SEC Play on Friday

LSU will resume SEC play on Friday, March 25, with the first of a pivotal three-game road series at #8 Florida. The series will be a huge opportunity for LSU to climb back up in the rankings.
