At long last, college football is nearly back. Here’s how to watch LSU Tigers football throughout the 2022 season.

Welcome to Death Valley! Football is almost back – which means we finally have our Saturday rituals back. Here’s how to watch LSU Tigers football in 2022.

LSU Tigers 2022 Outlook

There had been speculation surrounding Brian Kelly and Notre Dame for a few years now, but the pair finally split – which led to Kelly’s hiring at LSU. Many were wondering if Kelly would be a fit in the Bayou, but he and his staff are already winning over Tigers faithful.

To start, they’ve built up a roster that was entirely emaciated when they took over. When LSU lost to Kansas State in the Texas Bowl in January, the team had just 39 scholarship players.

Now? That number is closer to the NCAA max of 85. The Tigers added a ton of transfers after the new coaching hires and expectations are extremely high. After a magical 15-0 season LSU is just 11-12 since. That won’t cut it.

The quarterback situation is cloudy at best, but there are a number of contenders for the Tigers. Myles Brennan – a sixth-year senior – hasn’t played since 2020, but has experience. Arizona State QB Jayden Daniels transferred in before spring ball and redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier round out the other likely candidates.

Each have plenty to like… and plenty to dislike. Nussmeier has a ton of talent, but is certainly a bit of a gunslinger. There’s no window he thought was too tight – which is probably why he hasn’t completed more than 59 percent of his passes in any game. Daniels is probably the best athlete of the three, but he struggled with accuracy and consistency in the desert. Brennan’s suffered season-ending injuries in three of the last four seasons, but Kelly talked him out of the transfer portal, so he’s clearly got faith in him.

The good news is that whoever ends up under center will be slinging the rock to one of the best receivers in the nation.

Kayshon Boutte played in just six games in 2021, catching nine touchdowns (which led the nation at that point). He broke his ankle last October, underwent surgery and missed spring ball, but is now without a boot and is cleared for activity.

Feed Boutte and rely on a defense that returns plenty of production. That’s the key for the Tigers.

LSU Football Schedule 2022

Only four games are currently locked in to a time slot and network. LSU will meet FSU in New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 7:30PM ET on ABC. On Saturday, Sept. 10 LSU hosts Southern at 7:30PM ET on the SEC Network. The following week (Saturday, Sept. 17) the Tigers host Mississippi State at 6PM ET on ESPN. Finally, New Mexico comes to town on Saturday, Sept. 24. That contest kicks off at 7:30PM ET on the SEC Network/ESPN+.

Overall, LSU will stay in Louisiana for eight of the first 10 weeks of the season. The bad news? Those away games come against Auburn and Florida – so things won’t be easy.

In November, things stay gnarly. Things begin with a home game against Alabama before traveling to Arkansas and Texas A&M in the final three weeks.
