The end of August is upon us, and that can only mean one thing: college football is back. There won’t be any weekends without the sport for the next few months, which is music to fans’ ears. LSU Football fanatics will have to wait another week to watch their team in action, but it doesn’t seem to matter as many are simply happy to have games back on their televisions.

The Tigers—like many of the biggest programs around the country—will not be in action during “Week 0.” However, that doesn’t mean the weekend is a complete wash. There will be 11 games televised on Saturday, August 27, giving fans a full slate to watch throughout the day. None of the games are particularly intriguing to those of us who are used to watching SEC football week in and week out. All of that being said, there are still some things LSU fans should be looking out for during Week 0’s contests.

LSU Football fans need to watch these games during college football’s Week 0

Week 0 isn’t like any other week in college football. There aren’t four or five games on simultaneously, so while it is amazing to have the sport back in action, there’s no reason to stay glued to your television set. However, the Tigers and their fans have few reasons to watch a couple of the games being played on Saturday.

The first is recon. Florida State—LSU’s first opponent of the season—is one of the 22 teams in action during Week 0. The Seminoles will take on Duquesne at 5 p.m. ET from Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The Dukes of the Northeast Conference will obviously pose no real threat to Florida State, no matter how poor the Seminoles have been in recent years.

Even though Mike Norvell’s team is almost certainly going to start the season 1-0, there is still a lot to watch for in its first game of 2022. Improvement is easy to pick out, especially when it comes to mediocre power five teams playing lesser opponents. If nothing else, the Tigers fans watching can use this game as a way to scout for the match-up in the Caesars Superdome taking place a week from this Sunday.

If you find yourself understandably needing your football fix before 5 p.m. ET though, find the nearest couch at 12:30 p.m ET for a special presentation from Dublin, Ireland. This game is obviously the headline grabber for its notable competition and the fact that it’s being played overseas. However, the LSU faithful have a bit of rooting interest in the match, if they so choose. Mickey Joseph—one of the most lovable characters on the Tigers’ coaching staff in years past—will be on the sidelines for the Cornhuskers in this contest.

Elsewhere, if you’re desperate to see a fellow Southeastern Conference team in action, settle in for a nightcap and watch Vanderbilt at Hawaii kick off at 10:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. It’s not your ideal SEC matchup, but I’m fairly certain football fans in the south will take what they can get right now. This will have to satisfy supporters until the Bayou Bengals are back in action next weekend to kick off the Brian Kelly era.
