LSU fans looking for a rundown of recent Tigers news need to look no further. We’ve got you covered with the latest and greatest stories out of Baton Rouge. First up is some uniform buzz.
LSU men’s basketball officially announced they are wearing throwback uniforms this Saturday against Tennessee. These sexy threads feature a “Stars & Script” theme that pays homage to the 1978-79 SEC championship team. The 78-79 Tigers were the first to beat Kentucky in Lexington before capturing LSU’s first conference title in 25 years. The team followed up with a conference tournament title in 1979-80 and a Final Four run in 1980-81.
Judging by their reactions posted to social media, the 2022-23 LSU Tigers are ecstatic about their new gameday threads. Ironically, Andrew Lind reports the 78-79 team was not fond of the uniform design. Nevertheless, the reception among LSU fans is mainly positive. However, opinions will shift if the Tigers do not play well against the 9th-ranked Vols.
LSU women’s team continues win streak
The LSU women’s basketball team does not need throwback uniforms to ‘look good and play good.’ The Tigers moved to 19-0 on the season following Thursday’s 79-76 win over Arkansas.
Angel Reese continues to lead the way, posting her 19th consecutive double-double game. The sophomore forward dropped 30 points, snagged 19 rebounds, and fired 10-for-17 from the free throw line. We should also mention Reese served up a legendary highlight when she blocked a shot with one shoe on.
The 3rd-ranked Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa for a clash with Alabama on Monday. Fans must tune in as LSU seeks 20-0.
LSU football and transfer portal happenings
Backup guard Kardell Thomas entered the transfer portal on Wednesday. Thomas is a former four-star recruit that departs Louisiana a with 2-years of eligibility remaining. The Baton Rouge native saw action in 11 games with the Tigers, including two starts. Therefore, one can assume Thomas is seeking a more straightforward path to a starting role with another program.
In other transfer portal news, LSU offered former Miami Hurricanes center Jakai Clark. Clark is a graduate transfer that departed South Florida with 42 career starts. If Clark commits to the Tigers, he will compete with Charles Turner for the starting role at center. Turner anchored LSU’s offensive line in 2022 and was credited as a significant reason for the unit’s improved play.
