LSU football: Recruiting rankings update for 2024

The 2024 LSU football recruiting class is beginning to take shape. Here’s where Brian Kelly’s class currently stacks against the rest of college football.
The 2024 LSU football recruiting class currently ranks 10th by On3 with a composite score of 91.502. The Tigers are ahead of Clemson (91.464) and behind Tennessee (91.887). Georgia is leading the 2024 recruiting rankings with a composite score of 98.242.
LSU football has 11 players currently committed to their 2024 recruiting class. Commitments include 4-star studs: safety Maurice Williams, linebacker Kolaj Cobbins, quarterback Colin Hurley, and athlete Joseph Stone. Collectively, the Tigers have hard commitments from seven 4-star and three 3-star players.

Brian Kelly is just getting started.
LSU football maintains a steady flow of top high school athletes’ visits to Baton Rouge. For example, 4-star cornerback Devin Sanchez is slated to visit Death Valley on April 15. Sanchez is a Houston native and a big target for Texas and Alabama. On3 ranks him as the 12th-best recruit nationally and figures he’ll earn a 5th star before the end of his senior season.
4-star cornerback Jalyn Crawford visited the LSU football facilities last Friday. Crawford hails from Lilburn, GA, and currently ranks as the 14th-best cornerback recruit in the country. Moreover, LSU is the heavy favorite (over Auburn and Tennessee) to land Crawford’s commitment.

Kelly is prioritizing cornerbacks with his 2024 recruiting class. Such is welcomed news to fans familiar with LSU’s recent depth issues at the position. Thus far, Kelly has utilized the transfer portal to fill out his cornerback depth chart since taking over as LSU football head coach. Recently, he added transfer cornerbacks Denver Harris (Texas A&M), Jakailin Johnson (Ohio State), and Duce Chestnut (Syracuse).
LSU football can expect Kelly to continue pulling talent from the transfer portal while moving his 2024 recruiting class up the rankings. Kelly’s 2023 recruiting class finished top five in the national rankings. But, more importantly, the head coach is doing an outstanding job securing commitments from in-state talent.
