No. 2 – Selection Sunday disrespect

Every NCAA Tournament run begins on Selection Sunday. Entering the day with a 31-2 record for the LSU Tigers assured nothing less than a No. 2 seed. Wrong. To our dismay, the selection committee awarded LSU the No. 3 seed in the Greenville 2 bracket.

It’s hard to imagine any team being as disrespected as this year’s LSU Tigers. So few Power 5 teams throughout history, if any, enter the NCAA Tournament with two losses and are issued a three-seed. Suffice it to say; we found great amusement in LSU beating the Greenville 2 bracket’s No. 1 and 2 seeds. Both teams, Utah and Virginia, were worthy of tournament bids, but neither deserved their places above LSU, given both had four losses.

Regardless, such doesn’t matter because the Tigers proved what we knew all along. They’re a true No. 1 team in the women’s NCAA Tournament.
