No. 4 – Barkevious Mingo, LB

Selected 6th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2013 NFL Draft

Barkevious Mingo was an athletic freak during his time with the LSU Tigers. He entered Baton Rouge as a four-star prospect that doubled as a sprinter in high school. Not to mention, the strong-side linebacker stands at 6-4.

Mingo earned Second-team All-SEC Team honors as a sophomore and junior with the LSU Tigers. His collegiate career remains highlighted by 47 tackles and eight sacks over the 2011 season. The performance resulted in one NFL team salivating over Mingo’s potential.

Indeed, Cleveland figured Mingo for an NFL linebacking wrecking ball similar to what Micah Parsons currently is for the Dallas Cowboys. But, unfortunately, Mingo’s thin frame and poor scheme fit with the Browns prevented the impact expected of a top-6 NFL Draft pick.

Mingo was alright in Cleveland, but his body failed to hold up to the brutality absorbed by edge rushers. A labrum injury plagued a majority of his Browns’ tenure. He was traded to the New England Patriots before the 2016 season but mainly played special teams.

In all, Mingo played for seven NFL teams, most recently, the Atlanta Falcons in 2021. Unfortunately, his Falcons tenure was terminated after his arrest for “indecency with a child, sexual contact.”
