Will the LSU Tigers take another major leap under Brian Kelly and complete in a New Year’s six bowl game? One major sports betting network thinks so.

Early bowl projections released by the Action Network imply the LSU Tigers will play the Penn State Nittany Lions in the 2023 Peach Bowl. The Peach Bowl will kickoff on December 30 from Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The location will result in plenty of Tigers fans migrating to Georgia for the game. However, the Peach Bowl is not one of the College Football Playoff (CFP) Semifinal games for 2023.

The Rose and Sugar Bowl games will serve as semifinal games for the next iteration of the CFP. As such, the Action Network believes the Rose Bowl will feature Michigan vs. Florida State, while the Sugar Bowl will feature Georgia vs. Washington. Additionally, they’re predicting Alabama vs. Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. The Action Network’s predictions are intriguing for numerous reasons.

Suggesting Georgia in the CFP semifinals means the Bulldogs are back-to-back SEC Champions. The scenario also assumes the LSU Tigers are back-to-back SEC West Champions. One can think such because the Peach Bowl is the preferred game for major SEC teams in the Southeast that find themselves outside of the CFP picture. Atlanta is a more leisurely trip and home of the annual SEC title game.

Florida State’s first trip to the CFP in the Action Network’s scenario is fascinating because they’re the LSU Tigers’ week 1 opponent. Are they suggesting another tightly contested game that is the Seminoles’ only 2023 loss? Or is the Action Network indicating another week 1 loss for LSU? Either way, the September 3rd showdown in Orlando, Florida, is vital to both teams’ resumes.

The 2022 Peach Bowl was a thriller between Ohio State and Georgia. The game was a CFP semifinal in which the Bulldogs came from behind to win 42-41. 2023 is the last season the Peach Bowl is outside the CFP because of 2024’s expansion to 12 teams. The increase will result in the Peach Bowl rotating among the major bowl games as a semifinal and quarterfinal hosts.
