LSU baseball team advances to NCAA Tournament Super Regionals
By John Fye
The LSU baseball team won the Baton Rouge Regional tournament on Sunday. As a result, the Tigers are headed to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals.
The LSU baseball offense came alive on Sunday, powering the Tigers to a 13-7 win over Oregon State (41-20). LSU needed the win to clinch the Baton Rouge Regional title and avoid an elimination game on Monday. The Tigers (46-15) came through, handing the Beavers their second loss and sending them back to Corvallis empty-handed.
The next stop for LSU baseball is the program’s 16th trip to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals.
“Yikes, here we go again,” was a thought that crossed my mind in the 3rd inning of Sunday’s game in Baton Rouge. Such is directed at LSU’s offense, a unit that mysteriously went cold in critical games down the stretch, including the SEC tournament. However, a slow start on offense morphed into 12 Tiger runs across four lethal innings for the Beavers.
There were a couple of half-innings in which Oregon State’s offense made some noise in attempts to regain momentum. However, LSU’s offense was relentless as the game wore on, especially with their 5-runs in the 7th inning.

Shoutout to catcher Hayden Travinski and designated hitter Cade Beloso for posting back-to-back home runs for their 2nd game in a row.
Large left-hander Riley Cooper was a key enabler for LSU baseball on the day, tossing three scoreless innings. Fellow lefty Griffin Herring was also critical in the late innings, giving up on three hits and striking out four.
The LSU Tigers now await their pairing for their Super Regional portion of the NCAA Tournament. Currently, regional finals in Conway, Lexington, and Stanford are underway or scheduled to play later tonight.
Adding to the LSU baseball fan’s outstanding Sunday is Arkansas’ loss to TCU and their subsequent elimination in the Fayetteville Regional.
Yes, we are that petty.
