The LSU Tigers craving 24/7 sports coverage will want to tune into the SEC Network this summer for the Bayou Bengals takeover event.

The LSU Tigers will take over the SEC Network on Friday, July 7, with a full purple and gold sports programming day. We know this because ESPN announced their ninth annual SEC Network Takeover schedule on Friday.

"“Beginning Saturday, July 1, each school stands in the spotlight, teaming up with SECN to feature an entire day filled with their greatest moments from the past year, including SEC Championships, SEC Storied films, regular season showdowns, spring football, SEC Network original programming and more.”"

The LSU Tigers are one of 14 SEC schools participating in the two-week event that started this morning with non-stop Alabama Crimson Tide coverage. The Arkansas Razorbacks will have their day on Sunday.

Suffice it to say, LSU fans will want to avoid watching the SEC Network until July 7.

ESPN’s announcement of the SEC Network Takeover included two marquee games in each program’s 24 hours. As expected, replays include the LSU Tigers women’s college basketball and men’s college baseball championship games. Fans can also expect to see a rerun of LSU’s football walk-off win over Alabama circa November 5, 2022.

The SEC Network Takeover event will expand after the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners join the SEC in 2024. ESPN’s massive, 10-year television contract with the SEC also kicks in about that time. As such, we expect the world wide sports leader to provide more robust conference coverage.

Perhaps, SEC teams take over a larger network like ESPN2 or ESPNU for longer than 24 hours. Better yet, what if the worldwide sports leader gave SEC fans the luxury of team-specific networks? An LSU Tigers Network would be incredible, especially during the periods between college football seasons.

Ultimately, we expect ESPN to leverage their broadcast rights with the SEC by loading up ESPN+ with all the conference sports coverage fans crave. For now, we have July 7 to champion LSU Tigers Day on the SEC Network.
