LSU football vs. Nebraska football

Overall record: 0-5-1

First meeting: Jan. 1, 1971

Last meeting: Jan. 1, 1987

Last score: 30-15

LSU football’s pitiful history against Nebraska is a reminder of how far the Huskers’ program has fallen since their peak Tom Osborne years.

The Tigers and Huskers have clashed five times in the 1970s and 80s, including two Sugar Bowls and an Orange Bowl.

Nebraska beat LSU football 17-12 in their first meeting at the 1971 Orange Bowl. Next, the programs met in a ‘home-and-home’ series in the 1975-76 seasons. The Huskers eked out a 10-7 victory in Lincoln in 1975, but the teams tied 6-6 the following year in Baton Rouge.

The most recent LSU football vs. Nebraska occurred in the 1987 Sugar Bowl. Unfortunately, the Huskers were victorious 30-15.

LSU football arguably needs a win against Nebraska more than most teams on their ‘never beaten’ list. The Huskers are desperately seeking a regain of fame and are potentially on the right track under new head coach Matt Rhule.

Regardless, Nebraska is a storied program that the Tigers would love to get a win against in the record books.
