LSU football has never beaten these nine FBS teams

LSU football vs. Penn State football
Overall record: 0-2
First meeting: Jan. 1, 1974
Last meeting: Jan. 1, 2010
Last score: 19-17
LSU football has faced Penn State in two bowl games and lost both.
January 1st remains unkind to the Tigers when facing their feline football foes from Pennsylvania. LSU football first met Penn State in the 1974 Orange Bowl. Both teams were undefeated (9-0) when the game was announced just before Thanksgiving. However, a Joe Paterno phone call to LSU’s Charles McClendon arguably spoiled the Tigers’ luck.
LSU dropped games to Alabama and Tulane before their New Year’s Day showdown. The Nittany Lions traveled to Miami 11-0 with national championship aspirations. However, an experimental, artificial playing surface made both teams struggle offensively.
Regardless, Penn State edged LSU 16-9.
The teams met for a second time in the 2010 Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Once again, terrible field conditions plagued the contest as the rain slopped the field.
Penn State claimed another close win courtesy of a field goal with 57 seconds remaining in the game.
We assume LSU football and Penn State will meet again soon. The Nittany Lions experienced some dark seasons following the Jerry Sandusky scandal. However, James Franklin has his program in a good place to start his 10th season.
Fans must not rule out another Tigers vs. Nittany Lions bowl game matchup in the coming seasons.
