Five former LSU football players to watch this NFL preseason
By John Fye
No. 1 – Justin Jefferson
Team: Minnesota Vikings
Position: Wide Receiver
Depth Chart: LWR – 1st
Justin Jefferson has established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and he has yet to peak. We believe that the 2023 season is where the former LSU football stud will completely pull away from the pack.
Jefferson is already shining during Minnesota Vikings training camp.
Justin Jefferson was a vital 2019 LSU football team member that finished undefeated as national champions. Many NFL scouts viewed him as a slot player; thus, he was ignored until the Vikings selected him 22nd in the 2020 draft.
It did not take long for Jefferson to establish himself as the top receiver in Minnesota. Moreover, he’s getting more opportunities to showcase his talent with an offensive-minded head coach in Kevin O’Connell.
Jefferson finished 2022 as the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and First-team All-Pro after leading the league in receptions and receiving yards.
Will Jefferson put himself in the 2023 NFL MVP conversation? We think so.
It was once ludicrous to suggest Justin Jefferson would emerge as the greatest wide receiver from the LSU football program. However, the 24-year-old is on pace to cement himself as such.
