LSU football released a hype video through their social media outlets on Tuesday. As such, one Twitter user noticed an Easter egg regarding No. 7.

LSU football ushered in the final month before their return to the field with an excellent hype video. The video is just shy of three minutes and features Garth Brooks performing ‘Calling Baton Rouge’ at Tiger Stadium.

The video also includes the backside of the infamous No. 7 jersey and an interesting nameplate. Credit to the One Team, One Podcast Twitter account for the observation at the video’s 54-second mark.

Greg Brooks Jr. is the only ‘Brooks’ on the 2023 LSU football roster.

Did Brooks earn the honor of wearing the jersey No. 7 for the 2023 season? If so, he is arguably the most surprising player to earn the number.

Brooks is a very good football player that immediately impacted the 2022 LSU football defense after transferring in from Arkansas. However, the No. 7 is typically issued to star players.

Receiver Kayshon Boutte, cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., safety Grant Delpit, and running back Leonard Fournette are some players that wore No. 7 during their time in Death Valley.

Greg Brooks Jr. arrived at Baton Rouge playing cornerback but ultimately swapped positions with Jay Ward. He started 13 games at safety for the Tigers and compiled 66 tackles, three pass breakups, two interceptions, and a sack. Brooks’ most memorable play was arguably the fourth-quarter interception that sealed LSU football’s win over Auburn.

We’re wagering that Brooks has established as a locker room leader that is well-respected by his fellow players and coaches. It is also fair to assume the safety works as hard as any player in the LSU football program.

Indeed, Greg Brooks Jr. is worth of the No. 7 LSU football jersey.

However, the ‘Brooks’ jersey likely references Garth Brooks. Come to think of it; the jersey looks like a fan-ordered replica. Darn.

Next. LSU has never played these FBS teams. dark

The wait for LSU to reveal the next No. 7 rolls on.
