LSU Football continued its recruiting hot streak over the weekend. The Tigers unexpectedly gained a commitment from one of the best players for 2025.

5-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore made headlines by committing to LSU Football on Saturday. His pledge came less than 48 hours after 2024 4-star running back Caden Durham announced his intentions to play football in Death Valley. Both players are Duncanville (Tx.) High School prospects.

Who said Brian Kelly cannot recruit 5-star players?

I am one of the first fans to discourage ‘star chasing’ when evaluating recruiting classes. Conversely, I will not complain when LSU Football adds a high-end, 4- or 5-star recruit.

In Dakorien Moore, the Tigers gain an uber-talented wide receiver currently ranked the 10th-best recruit nationally in the 2025 class. Indeed, there is nothing for fans to complain about. On3’s breakdown of Moore is enough to make us want to jump ahead two seasons.

"“He is a natural separator with his long speed and change of direction, which I think is the most important thing. He brings both to the table. He is not a pure track guy who can’t change directions. He understands how to change speeds, gear up and gear down, tempo his routes, and he stacks corners off the line consistently.”"

Moore’s commitment is early, but for good reasons. The 5-11, 175-pound receiver knew what he wanted in a collegiate program and found it in Baton Rouge. He explained to On3 that he enjoyed “the vibes and energy” from LSU Football coaches.

Moreover, the 2025 prospect acknowledged the Tigers’ reputation for developing NFL wide receivers. “It’s just WRU. You’re wrong if you didn’t have LSU at the top as a wideout,” Moore told The Bengal Tiger staff.

In addition to LSU Football, Moore was offered by Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and  SMU.

Next. Why ‘star chasing’ in recruiting is dumb. dark

The Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class is off to a fast start with four hard commitments, including Moore, IOL Brett Bordelon, TE JD LaFluer, and CB Jaylen Bell. Composite rankings list LSU’s 2025 class as No. 4.
