No. 2 – Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M consistently competes with their in-state rivals, the Texas Longhorns, for the preseason‘s most overrated team. 2023 is no different, as the Aggies enter Week 1 ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll.

I won’t ignore that LSU Football played their worst regular season game at College Station last season. Okay, the Tennessee game was really LSU’s worst game, but the Vols were legit. As for Texas A&M…they sucked in 2022.

Jayden Daniels struggled in the passing game, while the LSU defense surrendered 215 rushing yards to Devin Achane. Texas A&M fans stormed the field in victory, which speaks volumes regarding the current state of both programs.

The 2022 Aggies finished 5-7 and dead last in the SEC West. That’s embarrassing for Jimbo Fisher and the boys, considering some in the media put Texas A&M in their College Football Playoff top four. Nevertheless, the expectations were high following their 8-4 finish to the 2021 season.

Texas A&M is trending backward under Jimbo, despite much success in recruiting. However, it says a lot when teams with exceptional recruiting classes fail to perform on Saturdays. Indeed, Jimbo is coaching to keep his job this season. Removing him as head coach will cost a Brinks truck convoy, but the Aggies’ boosters print money.

I don’t see what is different about the 2023 Texas A&M program from a year ago. I also expect LSU Football to exact sweet revenge on the Aggies when they travel to Death Valley on November 25th.
