Prominent sports writer lists LSU Football as second-best team in Top 25

Is LSU Football poised to make their return to the College Football Playoff in year two of Brian Kelly? The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman seems to think so.
Bruce Feldman released his Top 25 college football rankings and College Football Playoff predictions for 2023. Indeed, the senior writer and New York Times best-selling author offers some interesting takes. Among Feldman’s predictions is that LSU Football is the nation’s 2nd-best team.
Feldman ranked LSU Football no. 2 in his preseason Top 25. The Michigan Wolverines are his top team and predicted national champion.
On the Tigers, Feldman acknowledges word from fall camp regarding Jayden Daniels.
"“I’m told that [Daniels] sees everything much clearer, understands it better and isn’t gun-shy anymore.”"
The National College Football Insider lauds the preseason work of Marshall transfer Andre’ Sam.
"“[Sam’s] savvy and playmaking ability on the back end of the defense will help the one real question mark on that side of the ball.”"
I have to agree with Feldman’s assessment as the LSU Football secondary, on the surface, is the Achilles’ heel in Baton Rouge. However, the unit can exceed expectations with the emergence of transfer players such as Sam, Duce Chestnut, and (if he gets his act together) Denver Harris.

Feldman ranking LSU Football at no. 2 signals his doubts regarding the Georgia Bulldogs. To that, the author admits his suspicions regarding the quarterback situation in Athens.
"“…I do think [Georgia] will really miss Stetson Bennett’s wheels at some point this season. In a tough spot, I’ll say that’ll be the difference. In four CFP games, Bennett accounted for 15 TDs and just one INT.”“Carson Beck is very bright and knows the extensive system…but he isn’t the same kind of weapon Bennett was.”"
Feldman has the Bulldogs ranked no. 4 in his preseason Top 25. Nevertheless, his remarks likely have Georgia fans all riled up.
For what it’s worth, I also believe Georgia will stumble late in the year because Beck is a steep downgrade in playmaking outside the pocket.
