No. 2 – Will Rogers

Year: Senior

Team: Mississippi Bulldogs

2022 Passing Stats: 415 completions, 3,974 yards, 35 touchdowns

Through the air, Will Rogers was the best SEC Football quarterback in 2022. The Brandon (Ms.) product shined in Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense, leading the nation with 610 pass attempts.

LSU fans might recall Rogers throwing for 214 yards and a touchdown on 42 attempts in Baton Rouge last September. Such was a modest performance in a game the Tigers won 31-16.

Rogers has all the arm talent to top the NCAA passing stats in 2023, but how will he perform in a new offensive scheme?

Kevin Barbay takes over as Mississippi State offensive coordinator under head coach Zach Arnett. Barbay runs a more balanced approach to offense. As such, Rogers will hand the ball of way more than air it out in 2023.

Sadly, the coaching and scheme changes at Mississippi State are the result of Mike Leach’s sudden, tragic death.
