No. 6 – Graham Mertz

Year: Junior

Team: Florida Gators

2022 Passing Stats: 164 completions, 2,136 yards, 19 touchdowns

Ranking Graham Mertz no. 6 on our list, likely turns some heads. Nevertheless, we like his potential in an offense loaded with SEC-caliber talent.

Mertz transferred to Gainesville after three years as the starting quarterback at Wisconsin. He rarely posted world-beating stats with the Badgers, but Wisconsin is historically a run-heavy team. The Gators might trend in the same direction this season, but Mertz’s experience under center will go far in The Swamp.

We think Mertz will improve much this season and force Billy Napier to open up his offense. Indeed, the game can slow down tremendously for a player in Mertz’s position. Such a position includes SEC-caliber athletes, making the quarterback’s job much easier than those up North.
