Why LSU Football vs. Grambling will not be televised
By John Fye
LSU Football fans looking for the Tigers vs. Grambling State game on their TV guide will be disappointed. Find out why the game will not be televised.
I saw a few LSU Football fans on social media asking what TV channel will feature the Tigers vs. Grambling game. The answer is none. That’s right, LSU’s Week 2 game will not be televised through conventional means.
LSU vs. Grambling State will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+, the worldwide sports leader’s streaming service.
News that the LSU Football game is only available through streaming is a significant blow to the fans who don’t pay for ESPN+ or Disney’s streaming bundle. I imagine such includes a lot of older LSU fans. Heck, there are a lot of fans who don’t pay for streaming because they don’t own smart TVs.
There’s even some LSU Football fans that don’t subscribe to ESPN+ because they don’t feel as though they should. Indeed, paying for an ESPN+ subscription on top of paying for cable, satellite, or streaming TV service featuring ESPN’s cluster of channels is ridiculous.
Either way, LSU fans must understand that paying for ESPN through cable, satellite, or a streaming TV service is not enough to tune into LSU vs. Grambling this evening. Fans must have an ESPN+ log-in to watch.
Conversely, the streaming-only news is a positive for Spectrum customers who are LSU Football fans. That is because they remain blacked out of all ESPN channels while Spectrum’s parent company negotiates with Disney. However, the Spectrum billpayers who own an ESPN+ subscription can catch the Tigers in action.
LSU Football vs. Grambling was bumped from standard broadcast because, to the majority, it’s the least exciting game on ESPN’s slate this evening. Tigers fans are interested in the game, but it’s an anticipated blowout.
Alabama vs. Texas owns the primetime slot on ESPN this evening with a simulcast hogging ESPN2. The SEC Network will feature Florida vs. McNeese State.
