LSU Football doesn’t play the Arkansas Razorbacks until September 23rd, but we now know when the game will kick off and where fan can tune in.

The latest installment of the Battle for the Boot (or Battle for the Golden Boot) will kick off on September 23rd at 6 p.m. CST on ESPN. LSU Football traveled to Arkansas last season; thus, the 2023 rivalry game will be played at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.

Unfortunately, this Saturday’s Battle for the Boot is the last time we’ll see LSU Football play the Razorbacks every season.

The SEC’s expansion to gain Texas and Oklahoma resulted in a scheduling format change that will limit each team’s recurring opponents. Beginning next season, the SEC will remove divisions and ensure teams play every in-conference opponent twice in four years.

Moreover, SEC teams will only have one guaranteed opponent each season, a rule put in place to protect the conference’s most popular rivalry games. SEC fans will continue seeing the Iron Bowl and Florida-Georgia game annually, but sadly, the Battle for the Boot moves to an every-other-season recurrence.

We already know that the Tigers will not play Arkansas, Auburn, or Mississippi State in 2024. As such, LSU Football must do what it takes to keep the 200-pound “Boot” trophy in Baton Rouge for the next two years.

LSU Football won the 2022 Battle for the Boot in Fayetteville 13-10. It was not a pretty game for the Tigers’ offense, but the defense took advantage of the Razorbacks being down best player, KJ Jefferson. Harold Perkins was LSU’s best player on the day, racking up six tackles and three sacks in a game that turned heads.

The LSU-Arkansas rivalry dates back to their first football matchup in 1901, a game the Tigers won 15-0. The 200-pound “Boot” trophy was introduced and awarded to the game’s winner in 1996.
