We expect a great showing from LSU fans, who are excited to see the start of the Tigers’ national championship defense. For good reasons, there is much hype surrounding the LSU Women’s Basketball team this season.

Head coach Kim Mulkey returns for her third season in Baton Rouge with a 10-year, $36 million contract extension. Mulkey is now the highest-paid coach in women’s college basketball history after leading the Tigers on an incredible run through the 2022-23 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

LSU superstar forward Angel Reese returns to lead the Tigers for her junior season. The 6’3 playmaker comes off an offseason media blitz in which she raised her NIL valuation to $1.6 million. Reese was the center of gravity for LSU’s championship run in 2022-23 and is expected to outperform such this season.

Unfortunately, last season was the last dance for seniors Alexi Morris, LaDazhia Williams, and Jasmine Carson. However, the LSU Women’s Basketball roster picked up a pair of outstanding guards from the transfer portal. Indeed, former stars Hailey Van Lith (Louisville) and Aneesah Morrow (DePaul) have joined forces with Reese in Baton Rouge.

Popular guard and part-time rapper Flau’jae Johnson is expected to play a significant LSU role this season. Johnson saw some action during her freshman season. Such includes 37 minutes during which she posted 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the Women’s NCAA tournament championship game.

Another player to watch for this fall is freshman Aalyah Del Rosario. Del Rosario is a 6’6 center who will add some much-needed size and physicality to the Tigers in the post.
