Leonard Fournette is a 28-year-old, Super Bowl-winning running back who remains a free agent. We think this NFL team must sign the LSU alum right now.

Leonard Fournette needs another shot in the NFL to show that he’s got plenty of fuel in the tank. No team has determined that the former LSU star running back is the right fit. However, we think the Minnesota Vikings can change such with a phone call to Fournette’s agent.

The Vikings dropped to 0-2 after their Thursday Night Football loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. LSU fans who watched the game (likely) noted the absence of a Vikings’ rushing attack. Indeed, Minnesota said goodbye to veteran Dalvin Cook this offseason, opting to rely on backup Alexander Mattison.

The Vikings’ misplayed their hand. Mattison isn’t better than a backup, and the Vikings’ inability to run the ball limits their offense.

Signing Leonard Fournette can change the dynamic in Minnesota and help Kevin O’Connell get his team back on track this season. Fournette can shoulder the tough carries and not put the ball on the rug like Mattison.

LSU fans are familiar with the Vikings passing attack because it revolves around Justin Jefferson. However, a poor ground game currently limits Minnesota’s ability to compete through the air. Moreover, the Vikings struggle to maintain possession without a formidable rushing attack.

3-and-outs and poor time of possession metrics are plaguing Minnesota. Thus, we wonder why Kwesi Adofo-Mensah isn’t dialing up Fournette’s representation. I don’t think ‘Playoff Lenny’ would cost much, and the Vikings recently cleared nearly $ 10 million in salary cap space by restructuring Brian O’Neill’s contract.

Leonard Fournette hasn’t stepped onto the NFL field since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Atlanta Falcons on January 8. Unfortunately, the back half of Lenny’s tenure in Tampa was limited due to injury. The Bucs cut Fournette back in March.

Word around the NFL is that the Indianapolis Colts are bringing Fournette in for a workout in the coming days.
