LSU Football dominated the first half against the Mississippi State Bulldogs thanks to a career afternoon by receiver Malik Nabers.

Mississippi State is unable to cover wide receiver Malik Nabers. The LSU Football stud has ten receptions for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns through two quarters in Starkville.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels wasted no time finding Nabers early. The upperclassmen duo connected four times on the Tigers’ opening drive, leading to a field goal. After crashing to the turf following his fourth catch, Nabers briefly departed the game.

However, the receiver returned to action for LSU’s second drive, of which he caught an impressive 32-yard touchdown pass.

It was déjà vu on LSU’s third drive as Daniels found Nabers for a 33-yard touchdown pass on a critical 4th-and-7 play. As such, Mississippi State has not shown any willingness or ability to adjust to LSU’s passing attack.

We expected the Bulldogs to move a safety over the top of Nabers, but instead, they’re continuing to leave him in one-on-one coverage. As a result, LSU is moving the ball in chunks. Nabers’ last reception of the half was a 48-yard bomb that set up a Josh Williams touchdown run.

LSU was up 24-0 before Mississippi State’s offense decided to show up. The Bulldogs capped a six-play, 72-yard drive with a Lideatrick Griffin touchdown run. Sadly, Brian Kelly opted to run the clock on the ensuing possession instead of attempting to add to LSU’s lead.

Only 50 seconds remained in the half, but the Tigers have had no issues moving the ball fast and far against the Bulldogs’ defense. Suffice it to say that Daniels is having a phenomenal afternoon. The graduate quarterback has completed all but one pass (21-for-22) for 255 yards and two touchdown passes.

Malik Nabers finished 11 yards shy of Kayshon Boutte’s record for receiving yards (199) in one half of LSU Football.
